Yes, so we’re a company that sells physical products… biodegradable glitter products. So it’s with conflicted feelings that we witness the consumption addiction circus that Black Friday has devolved into over the past several years. And it’s not an exclusively American phenomenon, the madness has gone global.
It’s a bit of a moral dilemma that surrounds our very existence. And these are issues we wrestle with daily in our own efforts… Yet we are focused on our WHY, our reason for existing — which is to spread joy and raise consciousness, to champion progress over perfection, and to use our business as a vehicle to change the way business is done.
It would be lovely if we could all stop buying things online, learn to grow our own food, and live in zero waste, carbon neutral, forest regenerating, solar powered, cashless communities of exchange. Until that reality arrives, we do hold the view that the best gift you can give to someone is your time, your presence, your compassion.
If you want to give physical gifts this holiday season, we encourage you to first consider making the gifts yourself or buying them secondhand. And then, and only then, if you’re buying new, please look for products that are sustainably and ethically sourced and can be cycled back into nature with minimum effort… look for products that are biodegradable, compostable, or at least recyclable. Shop local and shop small, to support families and communities instead of big corporations without a conscience.
We strive to uphold similar ideals in our own sourcing, packaging, partnership and distribution decisions. If we are ultimately successful in creating the world that we want to see, we know the long game is that there will be no need for companies like ours because the way that we do business will become the norm for all businesses.
We deeply appreciate your support for our mission and our message by buying our products. And we also hope that you will buy less, and create more, in general.
